Houston we have a name…

It has been a year since we started seriously growing our little farm and two years since we moved to our country oasis. We have grown beyond my expectations thanks to my oh so very driven husband. He is the true driver of our “Frenchie’s Farmstead“dreams. Did you catch that?! We have a NAME! Two years in the making and our farm has a name! It may seem silly to get excited over something that seems so trivial, but this is our DREAM. The same as when you ask a 6-year-old if they could be anything they want when they grow up, what would they be? This is ours! Our “anything.” For more than a year we pined and tortured ourselves over finding the perfect name for the thing that means the most to us. It was much harder than either of us expected. We’d think of one that was super original and creative, then upon googling our name idea, we find that 300 other people had had that same “original” idea!! It was even a little frustrating. We wanted it to be perfect! Last year we, thought for sure we had decided on the perfect name, but that was before I realized that the perfect name was staring us in the face the whole time.

[Backstory time: My husband has his own mowing business in which he mows one day a week for clients in the city near us. He not only mows, but teaches my boys everything he knows about the business so that one day they can take it over for a summer job. He started this business before we moved to our gravel road paradise. Before we even knew we had the kind of farm dreams that we do now. (More on the origin of our city life turned farm dreams in a later post.) ANYWAY… years ago, he named his mowing business Frenchie’s Lawn Care.]

How we did not see that we could have multiple businesses nested under the Frenchie’s name, I will never know! We are Frenchie’s Lawn Care and now Frenchie’s Farmstead as well! Works great right! Absolutely… we love it! However, we have discovered that most of the websites and businesses that use the name “Frenchie” are referring to French Bulldogs so thus is my husband’s new found need to own one. Our Frenchie (French Bulldog) would be the mascot for Frenchie’s Farmstead and Frenchie’s Lawn Care. I’ll keep you posted on that one though!
