(9) Movin’ On UP!

So I’ve filled you in on some of our adventures with our first country home. We are now in our second country home, our dream home… dream home in potential that is. We have been in our new home, on our new farm, for just over year now and I thought what better time than now to introduce my readers to our “city gone country farm” lifestyle in greater detail. As I have previously described, our first country home, on 3-acres, was less than ideal in most dreamers eyes, however, it was a great chip for us hold until it was the most opportune time to play it. We did a lot of work to that house and made many wonderful memories with our family there. We also met some very wonderful neighbors who have become lifetime friends! You know who you are! But when the time was right, I guess you could say that we “flipped” that house. We got it for an amazing bargain and so when we decided the country was were we wanted to find our forever home, we started looking for a home with more land so that we could have a large family garden and animals, and more importantly, a place to pass on to our boys when the time comes.

We used the money from the sale of our home to purchase a 17-acre property that was…. dun Dun DUN! Overgrown, neglected, and needed a lot of work! Surprise… surprise… It’s like we enjoy the misery that comes with renovation and hard work. But you should see this place (pics below) it’s bursting at the seams with potential. There has been a LOT, and when I say a LOT, I mean more than we had ever expected, of sweat equity put in to this property. Fifteen months after purchase, we have finally gotten all 17-acres cleaned up, but still not structured exactly how we would like. That takes more fencing (if you’ve ever purchased fencing you understand $$) and a quite a bit of tree removal (lots of time that 3 boys playing baseball doesn’t allow for!)

Here are a few pics I took the first couple times we looked at the property February 2017 “Pre-Purchase” PLEASE BE ADVISED THESE WERE TAKEN PRIOR TO THE SPRING GROWTH THAT WE MOVED IN TO DEAL WITH (no pics of that as there was no time to take pics while trying to tame the beast that was ravaging our new property):
